Almark reef is 28 miles out of Port Stephens and is well known for holding good sized Kingfish as well as Snapper and the occasional Bar Cod. Almark is a Jigger’s paradise as anyone who has been there will tell you.
I have fished the area many times over the years and at different times of the year. I don’t think I have ever been disappointed with the results.
Winter and Spring are the best times for Kings as you are fishing fairly deep water and later in the year the current makes it a more difficult place to fish. Having said that I have caught good Kings there in mid-February in a raging current.
I have access to a 40 foot Black Watch at Port Stephens for the next three months. For $2,400.00 per day we can take up to six anglers to this remarkable spot.
